Crushing on: Bunk Beds

bunk beds built in attic

We know what you’re thinking: “Really, KKH? Bunk Beds? There’s no such thing as a good looking bunk bed.” Ah, dear readers, we beg to differ. You see, bunk beds get a really bad rep. Probably because they remind us of army barracks and camp bunks where everything was crafted for pine and mosquitoes took up more storage space than our shoes. But here’s the thing: bunk beds have come a long way in the past few years. Truth be told, there’s many a chic bunk bed out there, especially if you look at built-in bunks, which have a way of looking much more sophisticated than their standalone counterparts. Behold the evidence below. Try and tell us you wouldn’t want to crawl into one of these and call it a night, whether at your country home, or in an attic playroom. Perfect for kids, a great space-saving option – what’s not to love?

The space above is the perfect example of bunk beds done right. There’s the shared staircase in the middle, easy for late night “I need to use the ladies room” moments. Each bed has it’s own little storage nook for books, a glass of water, etc. Each bed has it’s own reading light, so there’s no overall “lights out moment.” Even better, the built-ins are crafted with traditional design and clean lines. Add to that a coat of crisp white paint, and some seriously fabulous bedding, and voila – a bunk bed we’d happily call our own.

PS: We want the top bunk.
